It is with great pleasure that the interim steering committee and I welcome you to the International Health Division (IHD) website of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA). As you may know, the IHD is one of the most recent divisions at the CPA, and we are proud that there has been much interest across Canada. It is the issues of global health and the subsequent challenges that person with disabilities face in all countries that guides the activities of the IHD. Overall, the IHD was created in order to formalize the role that Canadian physical therapists have shown and continue to enact on the global scene.
As of December 2004, there have been 156 physical therapists across Canada, and in far away places such as Nepal, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates who have joined the IHD. This is an impressive expression of interest, and we appreciate your support as the IHD moves forward in fulfilling its mission and objectives.
