One of the main objectives for the IHD is to determine the best way to make an accessible database of agencies that provide both volunteer placements in Canada, and volunteer and paid positions abroad.  This database will have a summary of the organization and its activities, and then links to the agencies in question, so that members can then explore the organizations independently.  There are many types of organizations working in development and aid, therefore the database will try to group them accordingly, by categories: placement opportunities, training opportunities and other (fundraising and support from Canada) for example.
